Joel D. Bradley is an author, publisher, former professional baseball scout, and host of The Disposable Heart Podcast. His work explores the personalities, contradictions, humor, and human consequences hidden beneath the surface of modern life.
About Joel
Born in Kilgore, Texas, and raised in Waxahachie, Joel now lives in Boca Raton, Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Miami.
Before turning his attention more fully to writing and publishing, Joel spent years working in professional and amateur baseball. From 2012 through 2018, he served as an international scout for the Baltimore Orioles, evaluating players across Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia. He signed more than 40 players during his scouting career and also worked extensively as a baseball coach and player-development mentor.
The Writer
Joel is the author of Swipe Wright: Dating in the Age of the Disposable Heart, a satirical novel about modern dating, app culture, and the ease with which people can become disposable in an endless marketplace of profiles.
He is also the author of Death By Data and The 7-Player Baseball Revolution. His forthcoming sequel, Swipe Wright Too: Decoding the Disposable Heart, approaches modern dating from the perspective of Gail Wright as she begins again after nearly twenty years of marriage.
The Podcast
Writing Swipe Wright led Joel to a larger question: What is all this swiping actually doing to us?
That question became The Disposable Heart Podcast, a short-form series inspired by real dating profiles and everyday experiences. Rather than relying on dating coaches, influencers, or manufactured experts, the podcast examines the stories, expectations, contradictions, and emotional baggage carried by ordinary people navigating virtual connection.

Joel is the founder of Ellis County Books, an independent publishing company built around one guiding principle: Publishing Stories That Matter.
